SAAB advertisement

“An SUV with Attitude”. Just by taking a first look at the poster and at the slogan we understand the big idea, which is the uniqueness of the SAAB SUV; it is not an ordinary SUV it is an “SUV with attitude”.

“Born from jets”. This is the company’s slogan and it emphasizes the solidity of the materials used to build the SAAB cars. This slogan also relates to the history of their aircraft company that reinforces the idea of the unique solidity of the SAAB cars using a metaphor.

“Once you’ve built jets, you don’t build just another SUV” This sentence once again emphasizes the history of their aircraft company and also reinforce the idea of solidity of their SUV but the uniqueness of it.

The picture of the car attracts the attention. The car takes the whole space across the page; it is massive, it is not an ordinary SUV. There is also a contrast between the colors and a play with the lights, which make the SUV look bigger and more massive.

NIKE Essay Reflection

Ideas:

In terms of the general idea that we were suppose to discuss in our essays which cool and in what is the topic we chose is cool, I think I stayed on track and developed the idea of why was NIKE cool supported by many examples. I think that the presence of the theme of cool is clearly present all along my essay.

Organization:

In terms of the organization, I think my essay was pretty structured and clear. There was an evident separation of the paragraphs, we knew where each started and ended. I feel like I followed the proper essay format with an introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion and I also feel like I followed the body paragraph format with a hook, a statement, an example and a conclusion but I feel like I could have written a way better introduction to my essay, more structured and following more the format of a proper and formal introduction.

Holistic:

I believe that my paper would have been better and more efficient if I developed my ideas and also I used a more sophisticated language by increasing my vocabulary first but apart form that I think my grammar and spelling throughout my essay are fine. I think my example were sufficient and relevant. Overall I think that I could have done much better in writing first just by writing more paragraphs and second doing all the other things I listed above.

This poster attracts attention because of the use of contrast in colors, use of the rhetorical question, the use of the rule of thirds the person is placed in the center and also the position of the text on the the second plan while the person is on the first plan. In this ad there is also the use of metaphor where the person illustrates the answer of the rhetorical question.
